Wix App · v1.2.0 · Build complete
Site Search & Product Search
Instant search for products, pages and posts that is never out of date — results come from the live catalog, not a stale copy.
Released in the Wix Dev Center and the listing is finished. Publication is held behind an account-record fix that is open with Wix support.
- Live-catalog results
- Typo tolerance
- Search analytics
- Ctrl+K launcher
The gap it closes
Most search apps on Wix keep their own copy of your catalog and search that. The copy is what goes wrong: a product you deleted this morning keeps turning up for weeks, a price change lags behind, and the results list quietly stops matching the store. The category’s reviews are full of exactly that complaint.
Wix’s built-in search does pages and posts, but product results are thin, there is no typo tolerance, and nothing tells you what visitors searched for and failed to find.
Site Search & Product Search looks things up at the moment of the search. Product results come from the live catalog every time, so there is no copy to go stale, and the dashboard tells you which searches found nothing.
How it works
Three steps, then it runs itself.
- 01
Turn it on
Install, open the app’s dashboard page and save once. A floating search button appears on every page of your site, and visitors can open it with
Ctrl+Kor⌘K. Want a bar in the header instead? Add the Site Search Bar element from the editor; both share one set of settings. - 02
Choose what can be found
Products, pages, blog posts, services and events, each on or off. Show prices and stock, pick your accent colour and placeholder text, and hide any page you would rather not have found.
- 03
Read the zero-results list
The dashboard shows what visitors search for and, more usefully, which searches found nothing. That list tells you which product to rename, which page to write, or which synonym to add.
How it behaves
The decisions that matter.
-
Nothing to go stale
Product results query the live Wix Stores catalog at request time, on both catalog versions. A deleted product is gone from search the moment it is gone from the store.
-
Typos are forgiven
Fuzzy matching means shrit still finds your shirts. Pro adds synonyms and “did you mean” on top.
-
No visitor is tracked
The search log stores the query, how many results it got, and the day. No name, email, account, IP address or cookie is attached to it.
-
Everything stays in your site
Settings and the search log live in the app’s own CMS collections inside your Wix site. There is no server of ours, and uninstalling removes the collections.
Pricing
Free tier that actually works.
Billed per site through the Wix App Market, monthly or yearly (yearly gets two months free). Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial of Pro. The free plan is deliberately functional and never expires, so the app can prove itself on a real store before you pay for it.

Permissions, and why each one
SCOPE.SITE_SEARCH.ALL- Query Wix Site Search for pages, blog posts, services and events.
SCOPE.STORES.PRODUCT_READ- Read product names, prices, stock and images for product results.
SCOPE.DC-STORES.READ-PRODUCTS- The same read access on stores running the other Wix Stores catalog version, so both are supported.
SCOPE.STORES.CATALOG_READ_LIMITED- Read the product catalog with the limited scope the search overlay needs.
SCOPE.DC-DATA.READ- Read the settings and search-log collections the app creates inside your site.
SCOPE.DC-DATA.WRITE- Save your settings and write the search log to those same collections.
SCOPE.DC-APPS.MANAGE-EMBEDDED-SCRIPTS- Place and update the floating search launcher on your pages when you save.
SCOPE.DEV_CENTER.APP-INSTANCE-READ-BASIC-INFO- Read which plan the site is on, to unlock Pro and Business features.
What is stored, and where
- Search activity (the query, its normalised form, the number of results and the day) is written to a search-log collection inside your site so you can see which searches found nothing. No visitor identifier of any kind is stored with it.
- Your settings (searchable content types, colours, text, synonyms, hidden pages) are stored in a settings collection inside your site.
- Nothing is copied to any server of ours. The app runs on Wix’s infrastructure and calls only Wix APIs.
- Search activity is kept for 7 days on Free, 90 days on Pro and 365 days on Business, and you can clear it from the dashboard at any time. Uninstalling removes the app’s collections.

Questions people ask.
Does it need Wix Site Search?
For pages, blog posts, services and events, yes: those come from Wix’s own site index, and the app is listed with Wix Site Search as a required app so it installs alongside. Product results never depend on it; they always query the live catalog.
Do I have to touch the editor?
No. Saving once from the dashboard places the floating button on every page. The Site Search Bar element is optional, for sites that want a bar in the header.
Which Wix Stores catalog does it work with?
Both. The app detects which catalog version your store runs and queries it directly.
Will it slow my site down?
One small script loads with the page, and results are fetched only when someone actually searches.
Does the free plan expire?
No. Free covers instant search across every content type, typo tolerance, the floating launcher and 7 days of search analytics, for as long as you like. Pro and Business add images, synonyms, more results per group and longer analytics.
