Its most-voted review is a request for documents: “Wix Portfolio needs to have the option for people to download media separately, and it also needs to have the option to import other files such as PDF, for example” (12 votes). Two more repeat it — “Can only upload images. Useless for those looking to upload PDFs, PowerPoints, or other documents” and “I created a Wix website to use as a portfolio for my professional writing… it is ONLY compatible with images, not documents. Absolute waste of time.”
The second wall is layout: “Not easy to navigate. Can’t customize text layouts” (7 votes), “The layout designs are too large and don’t create space for description” (6), “I couldn’t edit any of the layout on the actual webpage??” (4), “Customization? Nope!” (3), and half a dozen more. A title, a line, your own words, and the detail rows a portfolio actually needs — client, role, year, services, and a link out to where the work already lives. Then drop in pictures, PDFs, slide decks and video from your own media, several at a time.

Arrange it
Four arrangements: an even grid, a masonry wall that crops nothing, a row of case studies, or a sideways rail. Columns, spacing, corners, cover shape, where the words sit, text size and accent colour are all yours, and every visitor-facing word is a field you can rewrite.

Put it on any page
Drag the element in as many times as you like, and pin a placement to one category or cap how many it shows. It works the same way in Wix Studio, the classic Wix Editor and Wix Harmony.

Documents, not only photographs
A project holds PDFs, slide decks, price lists and specifications beside its pictures, and a visitor can download them. This is the thing the app it replaces is most asked for and still does not do.

Every arrangement and every control is free
Four arrangements, five cover shapes, four caption positions, columns, spacing, rounding, text size, accent colour and a switch for every part of a card. Categories, filters, search and downloads too. These are the complaints this category is made of; they are not something to sell back.

It never adds itself to a page
No pages are created, nothing joins your menu, and no collections hierarchy is built for you. It appears exactly where you drag it, and uninstalling leaves nothing behind.

- Add Portfolio & Project Showcase to your Wix site from the App Market and approve the permissions listed below.
- Open it from your site dashboard under Apps. It adds the Portfolio element (editor widget, any page, any number of times) / Dashboard page.
- Follow the three steps above. The free tier covers ten projects with as many pictures, PDFs and videos in each as you like, all four arrangements and every design control, categories, filters and search, the project view with a link straight to it, downloads, the client/role/year/services rows, and CSV export, so you can prove it works before paying.

What is stored, and where
- Your portfolios and projects are stored in collections inside your own site.
- Your pictures and files stay in your own Wix Media Manager. The app stores the address and the words around it, never a copy.
- Nothing at all is stored about a visitor, and nothing is written to their browser. Uninstalling removes the app’s collections.

Questions people ask.
Can a project hold a PDF?
Yes — that is the point. Pictures, PDFs, slide decks, specifications and video sit in one list inside a project, in whatever order you put them, and a visitor can download the ones you keep in your own Wix media. It is on the free plan.
Does it create pages?
No. It creates no pages, adds nothing to your menu and builds no collections hierarchy. A project opens in a panel over the page you are already on, addressable by its own link, so there is nothing that can 404.
Does it work on Wix Studio?
Yes. It is a custom element, so it runs on Wix Studio, the classic Wix Editor and Wix Harmony — the same app, the same settings panel.
Can I password-protect a project for a client?
No, and it never pretends to. There are no per-client logins. On Business a project can be unlisted — left out of the grid and reachable only by its own link — which is honest about what it is.
