The gap it closes
This one has a date on it. Wix pulled its own Forum app from the App Market on 15 April 2025, deprecated its APIs on 15 October 2025, and deleted it on 1 March 2026. Nobody who had a forum chose to go shopping; the platform sent them.
The official replacement is 3.5★ over 479 reviews, and the complaints are a specification. “Members should be able to post freely on the forums without having to register separately” — 19 votes. “It’s nothing like Wix Forum. It’s more like a social media site … nor can it be customised to look like a forum” — 18. “The older Forums app had the ability to approve posts before they are published, something we need … The fact that Groups does not offer this is a big step backwards” — 14.
And more of them: “it sent HUNDREDS of emails out to my members” (14) · “No individual links to articles … no subcategories” (12) · “WHY CAN I NOT CHANGE NOTIFICATION SETTING TO DEFAULT TO NOT SENDING EMAILS … I’M LOSING CUSTOMERS” (12) · “posts open up white background black text when our site is white text on black background, so when you publish you get black on black … the share links are lots of gobbled numbers and letters” (13) · “Loss of ability to search posts and comments” (8, January 2026) · “There’s no CMS option for Groups” and “does not allow CMS to connect to the collection at all”. The newest, eleven days before this app was built: “it just feels like it was knocked together and is unfinished.”
The shelf that is supposed to serve those people is two apps with three reviews between them. Twelve phrases a buyer types were run on the day it was built — forum, discussion board, discussion forum, community forum, message board, bulletin board, community board, online community, q&a, support forum, topics, noticeboard — and ten of them return nothing real at all. noticeboard returns no cards whatsoever.
Both of the two sell permission rather than a feature. The Verified one is 4.3★ / 3 reviews, and its free plan’s own bullets read “All Features” and “Watermark on Widgets”; its $13.87-a-month plan is the identical list with “No Watermark” printed in place of it, twice. The other is 0★ / 0 reviews and caps free at 25 threads and 50 replies, then charges $5.53 a month for the unlimited version — and for the “Full moderation dashboard”, which is the exact feature the 14-vote review left over.
How it works
Three steps, then it runs itself.

Put a forum on any page
Drag it on, as many times as you like. Boards, and sections inside boards, all in your own words. Pin one placement to a single board and it shows only that — the noticeboard on the news page, the whole forum on its own. It creates no pages, adds nothing to your menu, and builds no members area.

Let people actually post
A visitor types a name and posts. No account, no confirmation email, nothing to join. If you would rather only signed-in members posted, that is one setting, and it can differ board by board — so a committee noticeboard everybody reads sits beside an open board anybody can start a topic on.

Read it before it goes up, if you want to
Approve before publish, hold a new name’s first post, or publish straight away. Pin, lock, edit, move a topic to another board, delete. A spam filter runs on every plan and phones nobody. All of it is free — the app on this shelf that offers it charges for it.

It never sends an email to anybody
Not to you, not to a member, not on a new post, not on a reply. There is no mail engine here to misfire — which is why nobody using it can ever be sent hundreds of them, and why nobody has to hunt for a setting to switch them off.

Every topic has a readable address built from its title
A link to a topic reads like the topic —
#topic=lifts-to-the-away-game— rather than a row of hexadecimal. Accents, German spellings and non-Latin alphabets all survive it. -
It reads on a dark site
The default paints no background of its own and takes its text colour from your page, so it is legible on white and on black without choosing anything. A thirteen-vote review next door is a forum publishing black text on a black background.

One request per placement
Measured on a published page: exactly one call for the whole board, and then zero more for searching, filtering by board, or sorting. Opening a topic costs one more, for that topic and its replies.

Your forum is your own data
Every topic and every reply is an ordinary row in your own site’s content manager, exportable to a spreadsheet on every plan, at any time. “There’s no CMS option for Groups” is a fourteen-vote review on the app this replaces.

It creates no pages and no members area
A topic opens in place, on the page it is already on. Nothing is added to your menu, no dynamic page is made, and nobody is made to join anything.

It measures nothing about your visitors
No cookie, no local storage, no session, no identifier, no third-party request. On Business, where view counts are switched on, one row records that a topic was opened — and nothing whatsoever about who opened it.

Measured at 390 pixels on a published page: one column, chips wrapping cleanly, no horizontal scrolling on the page or in the widget, and the reply box on screen.

- Add Discussion Forum & Boards to your Wix site from the App Market and approve the permissions listed below.
- Open it from your site dashboard under Apps. It adds the Forum element (editor widget, any page, any number of times) / Dashboard page.
- Follow the three steps above. What is stored, and where
- Your forum — every board, topic, reply, wording and design choice — is stored in collections inside your own site, and is exportable to a CSV at any time on any plan.
- A visitor who posts gives a name and a message, and that is all that is stored. No email address is asked for or kept, no account is made, and nothing at all is written to their device.
- Nothing is sent to anybody by email, ever. There is no mail server in this app.
- The spam filter is arithmetic on the text itself, inside your own site. No post is sent to a third-party service to be scored.
- On Business, a view is one row saying a topic was opened — no visitor identifier of any kind. On every plan, a “helpful” press is the same.
- Uninstalling removes the app’s collections. Nothing else on your site is touched.

Questions people ask.
Do people have to make an account to post?
No. A visitor types a name and posts — no account, no sign-up, no confirmation email. You can require signed-in members instead if you prefer, and you can require it on some boards and not others. The single most-voted complaint about the app Wix replaced its Forum with, at nineteen votes, is that people were forced to register separately.
Can I read posts before they go up?
Yes, and it is free. Choose publish straight away, hold the first post from a new name, or hold everything until you have read it. Approving, pinning, locking, editing, moving a topic to another board and deleting are all on the free plan. The app on this shelf that has that feature charges $5.53 a month for it.
Is there a watermark or a badge on the free plan?
No, and there is none on any plan, ever. The Verified app on this shelf charges $13.87 a month, and the only difference between its free plan and its paid one is that the paid one does not print its name on your website.

Will it send my members emails?
Never. This app has no mail server and sends nothing to anybody — not to you, not to a member, not on a new post or a reply. A fourteen-vote review of the app Wix moved everybody onto is about a migration that sent hundreds of emails out, and a twelve-vote one is in capital letters asking how to turn them off.
Do topics get their own links?
Yes, and the link reads like the topic. A topic called “Lifts to the away game” is at #topic=lifts-to-the-away-game on the page the forum is on. It is built from the title, it handles accents and non-Latin alphabets, and it does not change when anything else does.
My site is dark. Will the text be readable?
Yes. By default the forum paints no background of its own and takes its text colour from your page, so it reads correctly on a dark site and a light one without setting anything. You can also pick explicit colours, a light theme or a dark one. A thirteen-vote review next door is a forum that published black text on a black background.
Can I keep a board just for the committee?
Yes, two ways. A board can be set so that only you post and everybody reads — a noticeboard — which is free. And on Pro a board can be members-only, which keeps it out of sight of visitors who are not signed in. For anything genuinely confidential, put the page itself behind your site’s own member area: that is the lock, and we say so rather than pretending otherwise.
Can I bring an existing forum across?
Yes, on Business: a spreadsheet with a title column and a message column, and a “reply to” column for replies. Board, author, date, pinned, locked and tags all come across too, and anything the file cannot be read for is listed by line number rather than dropped in silence.
What happens if I stop using the app?
Your forum is ordinary rows in your own site’s data — visible in your content manager and exportable to a CSV at any time, on any plan, free included. Nothing of yours is held anywhere else.
Does it work on Wix Studio?
Yes. It is a custom element, so it runs on Wix Studio, the classic Wix Editor and Wix Harmony — the same app and the same settings panel. It was built and verified on a published Wix Studio page and on a published classic Wix page.
