Comments & Moderation
Comment threads on any page, with a spam filter that explains itself and an approval queue you actually control.

- Approval queue
- Members-only
- Threaded replies
The gap it closes
Wix has comments, but only on blog posts. A recipe page, a portfolio piece, a product guide or a plain landing page gets nothing, and there is no way to move the discussion to where it belongs.
The moderation that does exist is close to all-or-nothing: publish everything and clean up afterwards, or switch comments off. There is no spam scoring, so the first link-stuffing bot to find the site turns the thread into a billboard and the owner into an unpaid janitor.
Comments & Moderation gives any page its own thread, scores every incoming comment for junk before it appears, and tells you the reason it was caught, so the queue is something you skim rather than something you dread.
How it works
Three steps, then it runs itself.
- 01
Drop the thread on a page
Add the Comments element from the editor to any page you like. Visitors post with a name; logged-in members are recognised automatically and their comments carry the profile name they already use, so you can tell a regular from a stranger.
- 02
Decide what appears, and when
Publish every comment straight away, hold an author’s first comment until you have seen it, or review everything before it goes live. The spam filter runs underneath whichever you pick, so obvious junk never reaches the queue in the first place.
- 03
Clear the queue on one screen
Waiting, Published and Spam are three tabs of the same list. Each comment shows the page it came from, whether the author was a member, and the spam score with the reasons behind it. Approve, mark spam, pin or delete without leaving the row.
How it behaves
The decisions that matter.
-
The spam filter never phones home
Scoring happens inside your own site. Link stuffing, sales vocabulary, shouting, punctuation floods and copy-paste duplicates are all judged locally. No comment text is sent to any third-party service, ours included.
-
It shows its reasons
Every score comes with the signals that produced it, in plain English. You can see why something was caught and release it in one click if the filter got it wrong.
-
Language is never a spam signal
The filter scores behaviour, not writing systems or vocabulary. A comment in Arabic, Thai or Polish is judged exactly like one in English.
-
Visitor content is never trusted as markup
Every name and comment body is written to the page as text, never as HTML. A comments box is the obvious place to attempt a script injection, so there is no path for one to run on your site.
-
The free plan never traps a comment
Free has no moderation queue, so it never holds a comment behind a screen you cannot reach. Comments publish immediately or not at all.
-
Emails stay with you
A guest’s email is stored for your reference and is never shown to other visitors or included in what the public thread returns.
Pricing
Free tier that actually works.
Billed per site through the Wix App Market, monthly or yearly (yearly gets two months free). Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial of Pro. The free plan is deliberately functional and never expires, so the app can prove itself on a real store before you pay for it.

Installing & getting started
- Add Comments & Moderation to your Wix site from the App Market and approve the permissions listed below.
- Open it from your site dashboard under Apps. It adds the Comments element (editor widget, any page) / Dashboard moderation page.
- Follow the three steps above. The free tier covers unlimited threads with up to 100 comments per page, published immediately, guest and member commenting on any page, so you can prove it works before paying.
- Stuck? Email [email protected] — two business days response.
Permissions, and why each one
SCOPE.DEV_CENTER.APP-INSTANCE-READ-BASIC-INFO- Read which plan the site is on, so Pro and Business features unlock. This is the only permission the app asks for.
What is stored, and where
- Each comment (the text, the author’s display name, the page it belongs to, the time, the status and its spam score with reasons) is stored in a comments collection inside your own site.
- A guest’s email address is stored alongside their comment for your reference only. It is never returned to the public thread and never shown to another visitor. A logged-in member’s comment stores their Wix member ID instead, so no email is collected at all.
- Your settings (moderation mode, members-only, blocked words, heading, colour, sort order) live in a settings collection inside your site.
- Both collections are privileged: only you in the dashboard and the app’s own backend can read them. Visitors reach the thread through the app’s API, which returns approved comments with emails and spam scores stripped out.
- Spam scoring is entirely local. No comment is sent to any external service for classification, and the app sets no cookies and embeds no analytics or advertising.
- Nothing is copied to any server of ours; the app runs on Wix’s infrastructure and calls only Wix APIs. Uninstalling removes both collections.

Questions people ask.
Does it need Wix Blog?
No. The Comments element goes on any page you choose, blog or not. It is a general-purpose thread, not an add-on to one Wix product.
Do visitors have to log in?
Not unless you want them to. Guests post with a name and an email, members are recognised automatically. Members-only commenting is a Pro switch, and it needs a Members Area on the site.
How does the spam filter decide?
It scores link stuffing, the ratio of links to text, sales vocabulary, shouting in capitals, punctuation floods, repeated characters, an email hidden in the body, a suspicious author name, and comments duplicated across pages. It deliberately does not score language or writing system.
What happens if it marks something wrongly?
The Spam tab shows the score and every reason behind it. One click publishes the comment. Nothing is deleted automatically.
Can I stop a word from ever appearing?
Yes, on Business. A blocked-word list sends any comment containing one of your words straight to spam, regardless of its score.
Does the free plan expire?
No. Free covers unlimited threads with up to 100 comments a page, published immediately, for as long as you like. Pro adds the queue, the spam filter, replies and members-only commenting.
