What it fixes

Four ways garage door companies lose jobs, closed.

Stuck doors can’t wait

A car trapped in the garage means a customer calling everyone. A text inside a minute makes you the one who answered.

New-door quotes stall

A new door is a big purchase. Polite follow-ups keep your quote in the running and stop when they book.

Springs and openers wear out

A yearly tune-up reminder brings back the customers you already helped.

Reviews win emergency calls

People in a hurry call the company with the best recent reviews. Ask after every job, automatically.

The free kit

Everything you need, written out.

Copy what you need from this page, or download the whole kit as a text file. It is free, with no email and no sign-up. You build it inside HighLevel by following the steps; it takes about two hours in one sitting, including a test with your own phone.

Merge fields like {{contact.first_name}} and {{location.name}} fill in automatically inside HighLevel. Replace anything in [square brackets] with your own details.

1. The pipeline

Create one pipeline with these stages, in this order. Every job moves left to right.

  1. New lead: Every missed call and form lands here.
  2. Contacted: You have spoken to them.
  3. Service visit booked: On the calendar.
  4. Quote sent: For repairs or new doors. The follow-up starts here.
  5. Job scheduled: They said yes. Mark the opportunity Won.
  6. Job complete: Starts the review request and the yearly tune-up reminder.

2. The quote request form

Build this form in HighLevel and put it on your website. Fewer fields means more requests, so every field here earns its place.

  • Full name
  • Mobile phone
  • Email
  • Address
  • What’s wrong? (won’t open or close, broken spring, opener problem, noisy door, off track, new door quote, other)
  • Is a car stuck inside? (yes, no)
  • Door type (single or double; with or without an opener)
  • Photos (optional file upload)
  • Best time to reach you
  • Consent checkbox: “I agree to receive texts from [your business] about my request. Reply STOP to opt out.”

3. Six automations

Each one is a HighLevel workflow. The trigger and step names below are the ones HighLevel shows in its workflow builder, so you can find each one by name.

01

Missed-call text back

Most callers who reach voicemail ring the next garage door company on the list. A text inside a minute keeps the job yours until you can call back.

Trigger

Call Details (HighLevel’s call trigger). Add two filters: Call direction is Incoming, and Call status is no-answer or voicemail.

Steps

  1. Send SMS: the text below.
  2. Create/update opportunity: your pipeline, stage New lead.
  3. Send internal notification: to you or whoever is on call.

Message

SMSText to the caller
Sorry we missed your call! This is {{location.name}}. Is your garage door stuck or broken right now? Text back and we’ll call you as soon as we can. Reply STOP to opt out.

Older HighLevel guides call this trigger Call Status.

02

New quote request: answer in seconds

The first business to reply usually gets the job. This answers every form at once, day or night, and tells you who to call.

Trigger

Form Submitted. Filter: your quote request form.

Steps

  1. Create/update opportunity: your pipeline, stage New lead.
  2. Send SMS: the text below.
  3. Send email: the email below.
  4. Send internal notification: the alert below.
  5. Add task: “Call back within 5 minutes”, assigned to whoever takes new leads.

Messages

SMSText to the customer
Hi {{contact.first_name}}, thanks for contacting {{location.name}}. We got your request and will call you shortly. Please don’t try to adjust or release a broken spring yourself. Reply STOP to opt out.

Quote sent follow-up

Most quotes are not a “no”, they are a “not yet”. Three polite nudges over ten days win back jobs that would otherwise go quiet, and they stop the moment the customer says yes.

Trigger

Pipeline Stage Changed. Filter: stage is Quote sent.

Steps

  1. Wait: 2 days.
  2. If / else: the opportunity is still in Quote sent. If not, end here.
  3. Send SMS: first text below.
  4. Wait: 3 days.
  5. If / else: still in Quote sent.
  6. Send email: the email below.

  2. Wait: choose “Until a scheduled date/time” and set it to 1 day before the appointment.

Review request after every job

People choose the business with the most recent reviews. Asking every happy customer, every time, is the cheapest marketing a trade business has.

Trigger

Pipeline Stage Changed. Filter: stage is Job complete.

Steps

  1. Wait: 2 hours.
  2. Send review request: HighLevel’s built-in review request (set your Google review link under Reputation first).
  3. Optional second workflow: trigger New Review Received, step Send internal notification, so you can reply to every review the same day.

Message

SMSIf you would rather send your own text instead of the built-in request
Thanks for choosing {{location.name}}, {{contact.first_name}}! If your door is working like new, a quick Google review would mean a lot to our team: [your review link]
06

Yearly tune-up reminder

Springs, rollers and openers wear out on a schedule. A yearly tune-up keeps doors safe and brings back the customers you already helped.

Trigger

Pipeline Stage Changed. Filter: stage is Job complete.

Steps

  1. Add contact tag: past-customer.
  2. Wait: 12 months.
  3. Send SMS: the text below.
  4. Wait: 7 days.
  5. Send email: the email below.

Subject: Time for your garage door tune-up

Hi {{contact.first_name}},

A yearly tune-up catches worn springs and rollers before they fail, usually on the day you need to leave in a hurry.

Reply to this email or give us a call to pick a time.

4. Set it up in this order

  1. Start your 14-day HighLevel trial and set up the account for your business.
  2. Settings → Phone Numbers: get a local number and forward your business line to it (or publish the new number). If you text US customers, start A2P 10DLC registration the same day.
  3. Settings: connect your email sending and add your business name, address and logo.
  4. Opportunities → Pipelines: create the pipeline with the stages above, in that order.
  5. Sites → Forms: build the quote request form with the fields above, then put it on your website.
  6. Calendars: create a calendar called “Service visit” with your real working hours.
  7. Reputation: add your Google review link so the review request has somewhere to send people.
  8. Automation → Workflows → Create workflow: build the six workflows above, one at a time, and paste in the messages.
  9. Test it: call your own number and let it ring out, fill in your own form, book yourself an appointment, and move a test opportunity through the stages. Check every text and email reaches your phone and inbox.
  10. Turn each workflow on (Publish) only after its test passes.
  11. Emergencies: send the missed-call alert to whoever is on call, and put your emergency number in the missed-call text.

Before you switch on texts: Texting customers needs their consent. In the US, HighLevel requires your number to be registered for business texting (A2P 10DLC) before texts go out; registration has its own fee and approval time, so start it on day one.

Want it offline? Download the whole garage door kit as a text file. It has everything on this page, in setup order.

What HighLevel costs

Try it free for 14 days first.

Questions

Good questions, straight answers.

Is the kit really free?

Yes. Everything is on this page and in the download: no email, no sign-up, no catch. HighLevel itself is a paid product with a 14-day free trial; if you start that trial through my link I may earn a commission, and the kit is the same either way.

Can I import it in one click?

Not yet. You build it by following the steps, which takes about two hours in one sitting, including a test with your own phone. The upside is that you will know exactly what every automation does before you switch it on.

Will the texts work for US customers?

Do I need HighLevel to use this garage door kit?

The setup steps are written for HighLevel, step by step. The pipeline, the form and every message work in most CRMs, so you can still use the copy elsewhere.

What about after-hours emergencies?

Send the missed-call alert to whoever is on call and add your emergency number to the missed-call text, so a customer with a car stuck inside gets an answer at any hour.
