The gap it closes
monday’s recycle bin keeps deleted items for 30 days. After that they are gone, with no archive tier and no way to ask support to recover them.
Worse, a user can delete a board and then empty it from the bin — at which point an administrator has no route back at all.
The existing answers are external backup vendors at enterprise prices. Board Guardian keeps the snapshots inside your own monday account instead.
How it works
Three steps, then it runs itself.

Snapshot on a schedule
Pair it with a scheduled trigger and it captures the board’s structure, groups, columns, items and values at that moment.

Keep as much history as your plan allows
Older snapshots are pruned automatically, newest first, so storage never grows without bound.

Rebuild what was lost
Restore an item by name from the latest snapshot — its group and every restorable column value come back with it.

A deleted group does not break a restore
If the item’s original group no longer exists, it is restored to the board default rather than failing.

Unrestorable columns are reported, not faked
Column types that cannot be faithfully recreated are listed explicitly in the result instead of being silently skipped.

Large boards are capped, and say so
Snapshots are bounded so a very large board cannot exhaust resources — and when the cap applies it is logged, never hidden.

Your data never leaves your account
Snapshots are written to monday’s own app storage. There is no external backup server holding your board.

Installing & getting started
- Install Board Guardian into your monday.com account and approve the permissions listed below.
- Open the board you want it on and add the app’s Automation block.
- Follow the three steps above. The free tier covers 2 snapshots retained — fully functional, on one board, so you can prove it works before paying.

me:read- Identify the installing account so snapshots are scoped to it.
boards:read- Read the board structure, items and values in order to snapshot them.
boards:write- Recreate items when you ask for a restore.
What is stored, and where
- Snapshots contain the board’s structure and item values, and are stored in monday’s own app storage inside your account.
- No board data is copied to any third-party server — this is deliberately not an external backup service.
- Retention is bounded by your plan; older snapshots are deleted automatically.
- The app runs entirely on monday code — monday.com’s own infrastructure.

Where are my snapshots stored?
In monday’s own app storage, inside your account. Nothing is sent to an external backup provider.
Can it restore a whole deleted board?
Version one restores items from a snapshot. Whole-board recreation is on the roadmap.
Does it slow my board down?
No. Snapshots read the board on a schedule and write nothing to it.
