From 27 September 2026, every shop selling goods to EU consumers must show the harmonised legal guarantee notice. No small-business exemption, no grace period — and none of its elements may be edited.
The EmpCo Directive rewrote the EU’s pre-purchase information duties, and Regulation (EU) 2025/1960 fixed the artifacts down to the hex values: a harmonised notice reminding every consumer of their two-year legal guarantee, and a durability label for producers’ voluntary guarantees — Inter typeface, #003399 blue, a QR to Your Europe, displayed in colour online and in full. This plugin ships the Commission’s official artwork for all 24 languages, shows the right one automatically, adds the GPSR safety block that has been mandatory since 2024, and audits every product for what is still missing.
How it works
The two artifacts, done properly.
Job one · The notice
The official EU legal guarantee notice — the real artwork, the right language
From 27 September 2026, Regulation (EU) 2025/1960 requires every trader selling goods to EU consumers to show the harmonised notice on the legal guarantee of conformity, prominently, before purchase — and none of its elements may be edited. So this plugin does not rebuild the notice in HTML and hope: it ships the European Commission’s own artwork for all 24 official EU languages and displays the one matching the page language, in colour, in full — exactly what Annex I prescribes for online shops.
- All 24 official language versions bundled — the shopper in Warsaw sees the Polish notice, the one in Seville the Spanish one. WPML / Polylang friendly.
- Displayed whole and in colour (RGB), as the Regulation requires online — with position controls and per-product overrides for out-of-scope items.
- The notice’s QR destination (europa.eu/youreurope/guarantees) optionally repeated as a clickable link — because nobody can scan the screen they are reading.
LEGAL GUARANTEE · official EU notice
| Artwork | Official Commission file · DE selected from page locale · RGB colour, full display |
| Content | Minimum two-year legal guarantee · remedies · what to do · QR to europa.eu/youreurope/guarantees |
| Durability label | 5-year producer guarantee · nested strip, full label on first click Pro |
None of it re-typeset
The Regulation says the notice cannot be edited — so the plugin displays the EU’s own artwork, not a rebuild.
Job two · The data
GPSR safety fields and a compliance audit that names what’s missing
The General Product Safety Regulation has required manufacturer and safety information on every distance-sale listing since December 2024. The plugin adds the full GPSR Art. 19 field set — manufacturer name, postal and electronic address, the EU responsible person for non-EU manufacturers, warnings, identifiers — with store-wide defaults so an own-brand store fills them in once. Then it audits: a status column on the products list, a checklist on every product, and a site-wide audit page that says exactly which product is missing exactly what.
- Store-wide defaults + per-product overrides — no re-typing the same manufacturer block 400 times.
- Product identifiers ride on your existing SKU / GTIN fields; the product photo satisfies the picture requirement — no duplicate entry.
- Site Health checks so a disabled notice or missing artwork never goes unnoticed.

Official artwork, not a lookalike
Annex I says none of the notice’s elements can be edited. The safest way to comply with that sentence is to display the Commission’s own files — so that is what ships: the official notice artwork for all 24 languages, and (in Pro) the EU’s official durability-label file with only the three edits the Regulation itself permits.
No exemptions, no external calls
Neither the EmpCo Directive nor Regulation (EU) 2025/1960 carries a small-business exemption — and non-EU sellers targeting EU consumers are in scope too. Everything renders from files inside the plugin: zero external requests, nothing for a privacy audit to flag.
Honestly scoped
This plugin displays the harmonised notice, the durability label (Pro) and the GPSR information set, and audits their completeness. It is not legal advice, and no plugin can make a shop “compliant” by itself — the readme says so in as many words. “GARAN” is the EU’s name for its durability label; this is an independent BuildsByLuke product, not affiliated with or endorsed by the European Union or the European Commission.

Questions people ask.
What is the EU durability label (“GARAN”)?
GARAN is the EU’s harmonised label for a producer’s commercial guarantee of durability — free of charge, covering the entire good, lasting more than two years. From 27 September 2026 traders must display it prominently where such a guarantee exists, and CRD Art. 8(2) additionally puts it on the checkout screen. Its design — colours #003399/#FFED00, the Inter typeface, the calendar symbol, the QR to Your Europe — is fixed by Regulation (EU) 2025/1960; only the duration, brand and model may be edited, which is exactly what the plugin edits. Displaying it is a Pro capability; the free build covers the mandatory notice.
When does this become mandatory?
The notice and label duties apply from 27 September 2026 (Reg (EU) 2025/1960 Art. 3). The GPSR Art. 19 information duties have applied since 13 December 2024. There is no small-business exemption in either instrument.
My shop is outside the EU — does this affect me?
If you sell to consumers in the EU, yes. The duties attach to targeting EU consumers, not to where the trader is established.
Is this the German “EU-Gewährleistungslabel”?
Yes — the Gewährleistungslabel discussed in German commerce media is this Regulation’s notice and durability label. The official German artwork is included and selected automatically on German-language pages.
Why does the durability label require at least 3 years?
Annex II covers commercial durability guarantees “of more than two years”. A plain two-year guarantee does not qualify, so the smallest duration the label can honestly display is 3.
Does it phone home?
No. All artwork, fonts and data ship inside the plugin — rendering makes zero external requests. The optional Freemius licensing layer is opt-in only, and the Pro webhook only posts to a URL you configure yourself.
Sept 27 2026 is a Sunday. Ship the notice before it ships you.
Install, set your manufacturer defaults, and the official notice is on every product page in the shopper’s language — in the five minutes the audit page takes to show you what else is missing.
